Being raised internationally, even for a short period of time, has a considerable impact upon young people’s lives. It can ‘turn’ their life upside down. Making new friends, accepting different cultures can lead to a lack of belonging and avoidance. Transition Care helps your child cope with the effects. It is an entry and re-entry support-program for internationally mobile children that significantly reduces levels of depression, anxiety and stress among children and their parents.

Want your child to get off to a flying start after your upcoming international relocation? Our pre-departure language courses are tailored to the needs and skills of each child. Even if children are already fluent in a language, our courses can help them master specific terms (for example, math-related idiom), so they can keep up during the first weeks at their new school.

Each country has its own educational system, which often instills doubt in families returning to the Netherlands. They want their children to receive the most suitable education, but which grade (elementary education) or level (secondary education) reflects the development stage a child is currently in? Our placement research provides the answers. You can rely on the resulting recommendations, as these are recognized by Dutch schools.

Sometimes, placement research points out that a certain grade or level is most suitable for a child, but only if it can make up a learning backlog. Remedial teaching is the answer: it allows the child to start in the grade that pertains to its skills while receiving temporary additional support. We provide families with advice on remedial teaching and, if desired, find an apt teacher in the neighborhood.

Report cards can be translated one on one, but not all Dutch schools are familiar with the systems of other countries. To ensure a child’s educational performance is taken into account, we create Educational Progress Reports. In doing so, we go beyond a regular translation: we explain the context of the foreign educational system, so the Dutch school can interpret the report card correctly

To many, summer is the most pleasant season of the year. Why not use these months to let children expand their knowledge of Dutch? If your family is returning to the Netherlands after a stint abroad or if you want your child to keep practicing its Dutch language skills, our Summer School offers a solution. You are free to determine the pace: our teachers are available to provide feedback on homework and Skype with children throughout the summer.

Dutch children living abroad breathe a different culture, which often slows or even thwarts the development of their Dutch language skills. To improve their mastery of their mother tongue, we have developed NTC online, a modern, flexible, online distance-learning program. Personal, tailored guidance from experienced teachers and appealing teaching materials ensure a child can fit the program into its schedule and stays motivated.

What if non-Dutch children with a basic knowledge of the language need to expand their Dutch skills? For them, we’ve created Taalbos, a flexible online program at elementary education level which allows them to practice with all aspects of the Dutch language. Exercises with game elements and audiovisual support on content boost children’s motivation.
