Living abroad
From the moment of arrival in the host country your family can request advice relating to educational matters. This under normal circumstances will take place by telephone or by other electronic means.
In order to maintain a bond with the language of teaching in the home country it is most important that your children remain proficient in their mother tongue. By maintaining the mother tongue children can continue to develop a cognitive command of the language. There is plenty of evidence to show that a good command of the mother tongue helps towards a seamless reintegration back into the national educational system when returning home. Unfortunately not everyone has the opportunity to keep the mother tongue up to level because there is only a limited number of organisations throughout the world which support this. Edufax can advise you of the possibilities.
International distance learning
Through a network of educational affiliates Edufax can also recommend organisations which provide language support to children of English, French, German, Spanish, Danish, Swedish or Norwegian speaking expatriates.
Edufax keeps in close contact with these organisations which like Edufax are all recognized by their own Ministries of Education. Several of these organisations have formed themselves into the OLC-EDEN organisation or: 'Own Language and Culture European Distance Education Network'.
By exchanging experiences and co-operating in various projects the respective organisations can maintain the quality and continuity of future developments in Distance Learning of 'Own Language and Culture' in Europe.
