Living Abroad

From the moment of arrival in the host country, the expatriate family can request advice relating to educational matters. This, under normal circumstances, will take place by telephone or by other electronic means. In order to maintain a bond with the language of teaching in the home country it is most important that their children remain proficient in their mother tongue. This is a core feature of phase 2.
By maintaining the mother tongue children can continue to develop a cognitive command of the language. There is plenty of evidence to show that a good command of the mother tongue helps towards a seamless reintegration back into the national educational system when returning home. Unfortunately not everyone has the opportunity to keep the mother tongue up to level because there is only a limited number of organisations throughout the world which support this. Edufax can advise them of the possibilities. If you want to know more, call +31 (0)40 204 7470 for an appointment or e-mail us.
